After all these months of defending him and making excuses \u2014 knowing full well what a repugnant dirtbag he is?<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be honest: At this late date, the accusation that Platner raped an ex-girlfriend should shock absolutely no one.<\/em> And that it took so long for Dems to cut him off speaks volumes.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the only reason they\u2019re deserting him now is not that they\u2019ve finally grown a moral spine; it\u2019s that they fear his grotesque character won\u2019t fly with normal voters.<\/p>\n

Not only would a continued Platner campaign for Maine\u2019s US Senate seat almost certainly fail; voters nationwide <\/em>may now realize that Democrats are morally bankrupt \u2014 that they stand for nothing, except the acquisition of raw political power by any means.<\/p>\n

Heck, it\u2019s not even clear the rape allegation was the reason <\/em>for Dems\u2019 switch \u2014 rather than the excuse <\/em>for it.<\/p>\n

After all, polls had recently tightened, with both Platner and his GOP rival, Sen. Susan Collins, virtually tied.<\/p>\n

And Platner, one recent poll showed, was trailing Collins by a whopping 21 points among the very people he pretends to champion: working folks, specifically those who lack four-year college degrees.<\/p>\n

Yet, until the rape allegation, Dems lined up squarely by him.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s \u201cmy kind of man,\u201d gushed Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.).<\/p>\n

Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) vowed to \u201cdo everything I can to make sure\u201d Platner is Maines\u2019 next senator.<\/p>\n

Rep. Ro Khanna (Calif.) dismissed the complaints about him by claiming he just said some \u201cdumb\u201d things.<\/p>\n

Even mainstream <\/em>Dems tolerated his candidacy, seeing it as part of a path to Democratic control of the Senate \u2014 while overlooking his disqualifying traits or taking the coward\u2019s approach and remaining silent.<\/p>\n

Yet his appalling flaws were beyond glaring: He wore a tattoo of Nazi symbol on his chest for nearly 20 years.<\/em><\/p>\n

He once described himself as a communist, though later claimed he wasn\u2019t one.<\/p>\n

He trashed decorated Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and called another soldier shot in Afghanistan a \u201cdumb motherf\u2014er\u201d who \u201cdidn\u2019t deserve to live.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nor did allegations of how he abused women suddenly arise just this week.<\/p>\n

Rumors have circulated for a while, and his campaign admitted he exchanged sexually explicit texts with multiple women while married.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last month The New York Times reported several women \u201cdescribing volatile and \u2018toxic\u2019 relationships that were unsettling and at times emotionally wrenching.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all on top of <\/em>his disgusting socialist, antisemitic politics.<\/p>\n

The fact is, Democrats have been so wrapped up in their Trump hate, they totally failed to develop any realistic<\/em> political agenda likely to improve the lives of voters.<\/p>\n

Can anyone name a single, viable policy prescription they\u2019re pushing to benefit Americans?<\/p>\n

Abolishing ICE? Voters don\u2019t want that.<\/p>\n

Defund the police? They\u2019d have minorities <\/em>up in arms.<\/p>\n

Men in women\u2019s bathrooms or on their sports teams? That\u2019s an 80-20 issue against Democrats.<\/p>\n

Tax the rich? OK, that <\/em>one might have populist appeal, but the rich are already heavily taxed, and such plans are only bound to backfire.<\/p>\n

The Platner case eerily recalls how Dems exploited Joe Biden\u2019s growing mental impairments and pushed to get him reelected in 2024, before forcing him to drop his campaign only after <\/em>they could no longer hide his condition.<\/p>\n

Then they unilaterally chose (without any <\/em>voters\u2019 consent) word-salad queen Kamala Harris, strictly because they saw her as their best chance to holding power.<\/p>\n

And this year they backed Platner \u2014 until they couldn\u2019t \u2014 and are now looking again to choose a replacement without voters\u2019 consent. <\/p>\n

Clearly, these people don\u2019t belong anywhere near <\/em>the levers of power.<\/p>\n

Fact is, Democrats have a problem. They need an agenda that\u2019s not Orange Man Bad. They need to focus on what Americans want. They need to purge the radicals and sleazebags among them.<\/p>\n
