Rep. Nancy Pelosi and her husband, Paul, have spoken out after he allegedly\u00a0crashed his convertible into a parked car in Napa County\u00a0before fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,\u201d a spokesperson for the Pelosi said in statement to The California Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpeaker Pelosi will not be commenting further on this private matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement comes as Paul, 86, faces a recommended misdemeanor hit-and-run charge stemming from Friday\u2019s crash in Yountville.<\/p>\n

According to the Napa County Sheriff\u2019s Office, deputies were called to the 6700 block of Yount Street at about 2:30 p.m. after a witness reported seeing a northbound vehicle slam into the rear of a parked car on the shoulder.<\/p>\n

Authorities said the impact caused major damage and forced the parked vehicle\u2019s right tire onto the curb.<\/p>\n

The witness told 911 dispatchers the driver briefly stopped before pulling away from the scene.<\/p>\n

Investigators later located Pelosi on Yountville Cross Road, where his brown convertible had become disabled and was partially blocking the roadway. Officials said the vehicle sustained significant damage to its front right side.<\/p>\n

After being contacted by deputies, Pelosi acknowledged that he had struck something but said he did not know what it was. He continued driving until his damaged vehicle stopped working, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

Sheriff\u2019s officials determined alcohol did not play a role in the collision. Pelosi submitted to a preliminary alcohol screening test that registered a blood alcohol content of 0.00, ruling out driving under the influence, police said.<\/p>\n

Pelosi was not taken into custody at the scene. The sheriff\u2019s office said that decision is standard for misdemeanor offenses.<\/p>\n

The case has since been forwarded to the Napa County District Attorney\u2019s Office for review. Authorities are also submitting a DMV re-evaluation referral, which officials described as a common step involving elderly drivers.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the Napa County Sheriff\u2019s Office told The California Post that investigators are recommending a misdemeanor charge of property damage hit-and-run without bodily injury.<\/p>\n

The latest incident comes just two years after Pelosi\u2019s 2022 DUI crash in Napa County.<\/p>\n

In that case, authorities said Pelosi was behind the wheel of his Porsche when he crashed. Officers said that he smelled strongly of alcohol, slurred his speech and appeared unsteady on his feet. His blood alcohol content measured 0.082%, and he later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury.<\/p>\n
