Danny Glover has been diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n

The actor gave his health update during a \u201cToday\u201d show segment with Lester Holt, which aired Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could live with it in a sense,\u201d the \u201cLethal Weapon\u201d star, who received his diagnosis \u201cnot long after\u201d his honorary Oscar win in 2022, said in the pre-taped sitdown. <\/p>\n

However, the 79-year-old acknowledged, \u201cI\u2019m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He praised his family, who have \u201cabsolutely \u2026 got [his] back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover\u2019s daughter, Mandisa, also spoke with Holt, 67, and said it\u2019s \u201creally important\u201d for her father to have control of his own narrative, of his own life story.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cThat\u2019s really important. And the time is now. What better time but now for him to speak for himself? It\u2019s important because people ask questions sometimes, and I don\u2019t want to be a dishonest person and say, \u2018Oh, yeah, everything is all right. It\u2019s all great.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover looked back on his legendary career elsewhere in the interview, dubbing \u201cPlaces in the Heart\u201d with Sally Fields his \u201cfavorite\u201d project of all.<\/p>\n

As for his legacy, he is focused on teaching \u201cyoung people\u201d about their \u201cresponsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Emmy nominee explained, \u201cJustice is our collective responsibility. One thing I learned from my parents most of my life is the capacity of people to change through their own. They become the architect of their change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover has been transparent about other health struggles in the past \u2014 namely, his epilepsy battle.<\/p>\n

Glover had his first seizure at 15 and treated the disease with medication for the next two decades.<\/p>\n

However, he grew to \u201crecognize when it was happening,\u201d he wrote in a blog post, per BlackDoctor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could say, wherever I was, \u2018Something is happening to me. Please grab me. Please hold me. I\u2019m about to have a seizure,’\u201d the Grammy nominee noted.<\/p>\n

He recalled once feeling an episode coming on during a play and repeatedly telling himself backstage: \u201cI will not have this seizure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glover remembered, \u201cEach time I got a bit stronger, and the symptoms began to diminish to the point where I was ready to go on stage.\u201d<\/p>\n
