Beartooth rockstar Caleb Shomo came out as a proud gay man after being married to wife Fleur Shomo for more than 14 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further,\u201d he wrote on Instagram Saturday. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am a proudly gay man. This is something I\u2019ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now,\u201d Caleb added.<\/p>\n

The musician, 33, said suppressing his sexual orientation has been \u201cdifficult to navigate\u201d and that he is \u201cembarrassed\u201d for not allowing himself \u201cto really dig up the roots for so long.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol, and honestly when I decided to put it down and focus on exploring why I felt this way for so long, it\u2019s been a direct path to me reconciling with my sexuality in hopes that it will eventually lead to me experiencing self love,\u201d he penned. <\/p>\n

Caleb said he made a vow to express himself \u201cwhole heartedly and fully\u201d on his forthcoming album.<\/p>\n

\u201cWherever it takes me I will follow and I refuse to water any part of it down, from the music, to the lyrical content, and way I portray myself,\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cI Will only do what makes me happy at the deepest level and what is the most honest depiction of who I am. I believe it\u2019s impossible to love every part of you when you won\u2019t face every part of you head on. I am trying to finally be proud of who I am and I think this is a massive part of that journey,\u201d Caleb added.<\/p>\n

The former Attack Attack! vocalist concluded his post by thanking those who have shown him love and support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage anyone who\u2019s struggling with who they are to give yourself grace. Give yourself patience. Be honest with yourself,\u201d he wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cDo the hard work instead of burying it down as deep as you physically can thinking it will change like I did. Holding these things in only hurt you and those around you. Love you all, and hopefully this is a step in the right direction to loving myself one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caleb\u2019s wife, Fleur, also took to Instagram, writing that the past few months have been \u201ca very disorienting and hurtful time to navigate\u201d for both her and her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb. I have cared more about his well being over the years than anything else in the world,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

The \u201cMy Top 5\u201d podcast co-host, 41, said she saw the \u201cconfusion and pain\u201d Caleb endured as he battled his sexuality but she didn\u2019t know how to help.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou never want anything more for your person than for them to just be ok. You also ask yourself constantly if you\u2019re a bad person for wondering wtf this means for your world & the anger you also feel,\u201d she shared. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am the only person that is having to deal with the duality of this situation. To support him whilst losing everything has been incredibly hard to figure out,\u201d Fleur added. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou can love and support your person through the hardest time in their life, whilst also be completely demolished & lose yourself at the same time. You question everything. But I have learned the one thing I don\u2019t need to question is our history. No matter what anyone will say, I know it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fleur said that being married to Caleb for 14 years has been \u201cwonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI already miss it & my husband more than anything. Our story was a good one. And now it\u2019s done,\u201d she wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cI hope anyone in the world going through this finds hope & courage & I hope the fans can continue to support Caleb.\u201d<\/p>\n
