The mother of five who was hacked to death \u2013 allegedly by a pair of twisted sisters and their deranged pal \u2013 desperately fought for her life during the vicious, broad-daylight ambush, the victim\u2019s friend revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Siblings Kitty Mia Diaz, 21, and Amaya Cookie Diaz, 19, along with their 21-year-old friend Kyandra Renee Faz, are being held on combined $15 million bail murder charges after police say they repeatedly stabbed 32-year-old Caroline \u201cCaro\u201d Pe\u00f1a at around 2 p.m. Thursday in the small border city of Del Rio.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As Pe\u00f1a was rushed to a local hospital, a chilling photo allegedly snapped during the attack was posted to a local Facebook page \u2013 where it served as the first harrowing indication to Pe\u00f1a\u2019s longtime friend, Zelina Ochoa, that something terrible had happened.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The now-deleted photo showed Pe\u00f1a refusing to back down as blood soaked through the back of her pink shirt \u2014 a haunting glimpse of the violence she had allegedly already endured, according to Ochoa and local reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a photo of her standing up and you see the back side of her, and her shirt in the back is completely filled with blood,\u201d Ochoa told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, \u201cthe three girls are in front of her \u2013 they\u2019re surrounding her,\u201d the grieving friend said, describing the image of the accused baby-faced attackers closing in on Pe\u00f1a.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The stay-at-home mother \u2014 whose kids are age 17 to 3, two of whom have special needs \u2014 wasn\u2019t going down without a fight, her friend recounted.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe had just collapsed and she stood right back up,\u201d Ochoa said. \u201cShe was a fighter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a very powerful picture because it shows, you know, these three girls showed up with their weapons and Caro showed up with nothing but her hands,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t show up there thinking that today is my last day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ochoa, who met Pe\u00f1a when they were both teen moms, said the disturbing photo was swiftly scrubbed from social media after Pe\u00f1a succumbed to her injuries at a San Antonio hospital at around 9 p.m. Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But during the hours it remained online, alleged witnesses flooded the comment section with accounts of the shocking attack, Ochoa said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere this incident occurred, it\u2019s a very busy intersection. It\u2019s on the main street of our town, so there were a lot of passersby,\u201d she explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Additionally, \u201cThis wasn\u2019t something that was done in an alley at 12 a.m. \u2013 this was done in broad daylight on the busiest intersection at the corner of Sonic.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to comments from self-described witnesses, \u201cthere was really no verbal altercation\u201d before the violence erupted \u2013 instead, \u201cit went from 0 to 100 very quickly,\u201d Ochoa recalled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt confused a lot of people because it happened so quick and everybody was like, \u2018Wait, hold on, what did we just witness?\u2019\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police have not yet released a motive for the fatal attack \u2013 an element of the case that continues to draw blanks from people who knew Pe\u00f1a.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCaro was not the type to go to the clubs or be involved in any type of altercation or drama or anything like that \u2013 that\u2019s just not who she was,\u201d Ochoa said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was that one friend that tried to bring peace among everyone, so it\u2019s just so confusing how this even happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if it was just an unlucky day and she happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time \u2014 I don\u2019t know. I really don\u2019t know,\u201d she lamented.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ochoa ripped Kitty, whose social media pages show she has her own young son, for allegedly taking Pe\u00f1a away from her five children \u2013 the youngest of whom is only a toddler, she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very unclear as to why a mother would do this to another mother and why she herself wouldn\u2019t consider her own son,\u201d she said, referring to the alleged killer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s still gonna see her son grow up through the glass and Caro\u2019s kids are only gonna have a tombstone.\u201d<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe created to help support Pe\u00f1a\u2019s children \u2013 who of whom are autistic, according to the fundraiser bio \u2013 had raised $680 of its $7,500 goal within hours..\u00a0<\/p>\n

But money and even justice for Pe\u00f1a\u2019s death will never be able to fill the gaping hole that will now exist in her children\u2019s lives forever, according to her friend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was one of those people that were born to be a mom\u2026she made it look so easy,\u201d Ochoa said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone says your kids love you, but her kids really love her. She wasn\u2019t just their mom \u2013 she was their friend\u2026her life was her children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kitty, Cookie and Faz were being held in a local jail as of Friday, according to the City of Del Rio Police Department. <\/p>\n
