Bill Maher told Vice President JD Vance that his vote is \u201cin play\u201d in the 2028 presidential election as he called out several high-ranking Democrats \u2014 such as NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Kamala Harris \u2014 for avoiding his program. <\/p>\n

Maher, the liberal host on HBO\u2019s \u201cReal Time,\u201d warned Friday that Democrats and moderate members might not get his vote if the party continues on the path of socialism.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, if this is where the Democratic Party is going, where this Democratic socialist, this obsession with Israel, with the Jew hating, they don\u2019t believe in capitalism, no prisons. If this is where they\u2019re going, my vote is in play,\u201d Maher told Vance. <\/p>\n

Maher said that he has \u201calways\u201d preferred the candidate whom he believed was the best option rather than voting along party lines.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt actually always has been. Every year, I don\u2019t make my decision by who has an R or a D, I actually always came to the conclusion that the Democrat was probably better and voted for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Maher couldn\u2019t pinpoint the next leader of the Democratic Party, but revealed the Republicans would have an easier choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s either going to be you or Rubio,\u201d Maher told Vance after joking about Trump\u2019s term-limits.<\/p>\n

Vance joined Maher for the sit-down discussion, where the pair tackled topics such as Iran\u2019s nuclear weapons, immigration, and the Trump Administration.<\/p>\n

Maher praised Vance for appearing on the show after the veep received a warm welcome from the audience and quipped, \u201cI\u2019m sure it\u2019s the only applause I will get.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just glad you\u2019re talking to me, you know?\u201d Maher told Vance. \u201cI mean, I say it every time, the Republicans come here and they take their beating like a man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the people I vote for, they\u2019re the ones who won\u2019t talk to me! That\u2019s odd, isn\u2019t it?\u201d Maher asked.<\/p>\n

Vance questioned if there was a chance that Mamdani-backed Darializa Avila Chevalier would make an appearance on the show any time soon.<\/p>\n

Maher, who had comedian Larry Wilmore and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) on Friday\u2019s show, said \u201cNo\u2019 as he claimed that Mamdani, Harris and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have refused to show up. <\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t get AOC, I can\u2019t get Mamdani, I couldn\u2019t get Kamala Harris. Took me eight years to get Obama!\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n

Chevalier, a Democratic Socialist of America member, defeated incumbent Rep. Adriano Espillat in the Democratic primary for New York\u2019s 13th Congressional District on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old community organizer was among several Mamdani-backed candidates to cruise to victory in the Big Apple\u2019s primaries.<\/p>\n

During their interview, Maher and Vance discussed the ongoing conflict with Iran, as the Vice President argued America will win either way against the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we don\u2019t make the final deal, their nuclear program is still destroyed, they\u2019re still much weaker as a country,\u201d Vance said. \u201cSo my attitude is America wins either way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Vance and Rubio, former senators before elevating to their posts in the Trump administration, have been key figures for the 80-year-old commander in chief, with the vice president having traveled to Switzerland for high-stakes meetings with Iranian officials.<\/p>\n
