A Louisiana pastor\u2019s family complained to cops that their neighbor was tormenting them \u2013 just months before the preacher allegedly unleashed a vicious beatdown.<\/p>\n

Tony Spell\u2019s wife Shaye claimed she was harassed by Scott Sherwin\u2019s son and alleged that he nearly caused a car crash after pursuing her on one occasion, WBRZ reported Thursday.<\/p>\n

Shaye, of Baton Rouge, La, filed one police report in May, documenting an alleged incident from March in which she claimed Sherwin\u2019s son, Luke, \u201cflipped\u201d her off before following her in his car and hurling expletives.<\/p>\n

\u201cMrs Spell stated she quickly moved forward out of fear of him approaching her,\u201d police said. <\/p>\n

In a second complaint, she claimed she was \u201cflipped\u201d off again by Sherwin\u2019s son while she and her husband were pulling out of the driveway, just days after the first incident.<\/p>\n

Shaye alleged Luke \u201cgrabbed his crotch\u201d \u2014 an act she claimed he had done previously \u2014 before pursuing them. She claimed he swerved into their lane, crossing three lanes in the process and nearly causing a crash.<\/p>\n

Cops have not named Luke as the victim in Tuesday\u2019s attack. <\/p>\n

Officers had warned Scott Sherwin that Luke shouldn\u2019t follow or contact Shaye. <\/p>\n

But, the Spells\u2019 reportedly saw the elder Sherwin being told by an officer \u2014 and allegedly charged up to him while holding their phones, according to a police report.<\/p>\n

Cops ordered the pastor to get back into his truck \u2013 and also urged Scott Sherwin to \u201ccalm down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sherwin allegedly gesticulated at the pastor \u2013 but cops didn\u2019t take any further action.<\/p>\n

Spell\u2019s apparent rivalry with the Sherwins dates back to the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2020, Spell \u2013 the pastor of the Life Tabernacle Church \u2013 sued Sherwin for installing surveillance cameras at his home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He claimed the devices were planted \u201cto view those coming and going,\u201d according to the lawsuit seen by The Advocate.<\/p>\n

Spell also claimed he had been followed and his phone had been tapped in the civil suit filed against a slew of parties, including Governor John Bel Edwards, and officials from East Baton Rouge Parish.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit was filed in May 2020 \u2013 just weeks after he was slapped with six misdemeanor counts for flouting a COVID ban on large gatherings.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Shaye Spell claimed her neighbor \u201cacross the street\u201d moved traffic cones to block her church\u2019s entrance, according to WBRZ.<\/p>\n

Spell, pastor of the Life Tabernacle Church, said Wednesday that Sherwin\u2019s son threatened to rape and kill his wife and children as he explained the motive behind the now-viral attack.<\/p>\n

He claimed Sherwin\u2019s son hurled expletives while he was changing the battery of one of his buses.<\/p>\n

Spell allegedly struck his victim eight times before wrestling him to the ground, where he threw another 27 punches, leaving the man needing five stitches to his chin.<\/p>\n

Spell faces up to eight years in prison after being charged with second-degree battery. He defended his actions after being released on bond.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018Tony, I\u2019m going to rape your wife, I\u2019m going to rape all your grandchildren, and the next time you go out of town, I\u2019m going to kill them,\u2019\u201d he told reporters Wednesday, explaining the motive behind the attack.<\/p>\n

Spell said he had a \u201cduty and obligation\u201d to protect his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cNumber one, I\u2019m a husband, number two, I\u2019m a father, and number three, I\u2019m a pastor who shepherds his flock,\u201d he said. \u201cI will not allow a man to murder my children when I\u2019m gone.\u201d<\/p>\n
