{"id":2802,"date":"2026-06-23T22:14:48","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T22:14:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2802"},"modified":"2026-06-23T22:14:48","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T22:14:48","slug":"exclusive-amazing-security-guard-fights-off-masked-punks-at-lux-soho-shop-in-wild-video-you-step-up-or-you-step-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2802","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive | &#8216;Amazing&#8217; security guard fights off masked punks at lux SoHo shop in wild video: &#8216;You step up, or you step down&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A superhero security guard fought off a pair of masked punks trying to rob a hip SoHo boutique Monday \u2014 with the wild scuffle caught on dramatic surveillance video.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2800\">Exclusive | Woman who emptied Knicks trashcan on street\u2014 then stole it \u2014 fired from JPMorgan Chase, was DEI exec<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tyrell Gibbs, 34, told The Post he was working the door at the trendy luxury resale shop Rebelonging for fewer than than two weeks when the brazen crime unfolded \u2014 and led him to tap into his boyhood experience as a tight end and receiver on the football field to shut down the illegal rush.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou meet them at the line of scrimmage,\u201d said Gibbs, who has an eight-year resume in security and hotel service \u2014 and the physique and face to land him modeling jobs, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what we were doing \u2014 I felt like if I met them at that point and addressed them there, that he would go away versus me allowing them to come to me,\u201d Gibbs said of the battle at the Manhattan store\u2019s entrance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just know that in sports, either you step up, or you step down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy thing was to react,\u201d said Gibbs, who was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Harlem playing for the Harlem Knights youth football league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t to even fight,\u201d said the guard \u2014 whose employer hailed him as \u201camazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t want to harm them, and I didn\u2019t want to harm anybody else, but keeping every body safe, just creating a boundary between myself, the door and the open space of the door.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The violent encounter unfolded shortly before 3 p.m. at the West Broadway shop, when a girl wearing a head scarf and dark sunglasses entered the store, and the guard held the front door for her, according to footage posted by the boutique on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2798\">Ex-JPMorgan banker Chirayu Rana dealt major blow in \u2018sex slave\u2019 lawsuit \u2014 after lawyer gets approval to dump him<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then all hell broke loose.<\/p>\n<p>Two masked punks tried to bum-rush the door, but Gibbs would have no part of it \u2014 with footage showing him rebuffing them like an NFL lineman, shoving them away till they gave up and high-tailed it down the street.<\/p>\n<p>Gibbs noted that in middle school, he suited up with the Knights and later played basketball \u2014 which he said \u201cabsolutely\u201d helped prepare him for the face-off with the wannabe crooks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just trying to keep that door closed,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was hectic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The girl who entered earlier then scooted past the guard and ran off.<\/p>\n<p>The crew \u201cfled on West Broadway down towards Canal St around 2:52-2:57PM in a white Acura. (We are looking for their license plate and any information connected),\u201d the store said in Instagram. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have only been open for a week and this is extremely frustrating but we need to get to the bottom of this to prevent this from happening to other businesses,\u201d the shop said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you to our amazing security for keeping us safe we are truly so grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gibbs lamented the uptick in crime in the city recent years. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPetty larceny, car robberies. A couple of things, like fraud and all types of stuff like that. Petty crimes, but all about money,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like it\u2019s an economy-based thing. It\u2019s been a real tough go for a lot of people coming off the pandemic, so I can only imagine what\u2019s really going on in the household.
