Golf Channel analyst Eamon Lynch has seen enough of major championship golf on Long Island.<\/p>\n

Lynch unloaded on Long Island golf fans after the U.S. Open, saying they \u201cdo not deserve\u201d another major championship following more complaints over fan behavior.<\/p>\n

\u201cLong Island golf fans are a stain on the game of golf,\u201d Lynch said.<\/p>\n

Lynch acknowledged there has been a \u201cnarrative\u201d around Wyndham Clark not being one of golf\u2019s most popular players, while also pointing to gambling\u2019s growing role in the sport as part of the wider issue.<\/p>\n

But he said those factors did not excuse what he believes has become a repeated problem when major tournaments are held on Long Island.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Fans were kicked out of Shinnecock Hills on Sunday for their brutal heckling of Clark, shouting at him, \u201cdon\u2019t choke Wyndham\u201d and \u201cget in the bunker\u201d during his title-clinching final round.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t a New York problem,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t happen at Winged Foot, doesn\u2019t happen at Baltusrol on the other side of the Hudson River. It happens on Long Island every single time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lynch also brought up Bethpage Black, saying the PGA of America should reconsider bringing the PGA Championship back there in 2033. <\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy and Team Europe were the targets of consistent taunts during the Ryder Cup this past summer. <\/p>\n

McIlroy\u2019s wife Erica Stoll,\u00a0had a beer thrown at her\u00a0on the course.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think we should ever accept that in golf,\u201d McIlroy said following Europe\u2019s 15-13 win. \u201cI think golf should be held to a higher standard than what was seen out there this week. Golf has the ability to unite people. Golf teaches you very good life lessons. It teaches you etiquette. It teaches you how to play by the rules. It teaches you how to respect people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat should not happen,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cThese people do not deserve a major championship.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Golf Channel analyst said poor crowd behavior at Long Island golf events has become too \u201crepetitive\u201d and \u201cpredictable\u201d to ignore.<\/p>\n

He also took aim at fans trying to turn heckling into viral moments, blaming part of the problem on spectators filming themselves while targeting players.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the drunk crypto bros who buy a ticket with Daddy\u2019s credit card,\u201d Lynch said, adding that some fans have gone through life \u201cwithout ever being stopped for something they\u2019ve said.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lynch then suggested golf may need to follow Augusta National\u2019s lead when it comes to policing fan behavior.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe golf in its entirety needs to take the Augusta National model,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cNo phones, no tolerance, no second chance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Augusta National, home of the Masters, is known for its strict spectator rules, including its ban on phones during tournament rounds and its low tolerance for disruptive behavior.<\/p>\n

Lynch\u2019s comments added to the debate over fan conduct at major championships, especially as golf crowds have grown louder and players have had to deal with more heckling from outside the ropes.<\/p>\n

For Lynch, the solution was clear: stop rewarding Long Island with major championships unless the fan experience changes.<\/p>\n
