GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Sunday that he thinks the US peace talks with Iran are going to fail \u2014 and that President Trump is going to seize the Strait of Hormuz \u201cby force.\u201d <\/p>\n

Graham (R-SC) applauded the president for trying to negotiate with the regime, but ultimately predicted that the 14-point memorandum of understanding signed last week, ushering in a 60-day period of peace talks toward a full-fledged deal, won\u2019t be fruitful. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d rather try diplomacy than take it off the table,\u201d the lawmaker told CBS News\u2019 \u201cFace the Nation\u201d on Sunday. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t have a diplomatic path through the MOU, then you have to go to war or some other form of coercion. Let\u2019s try this. Let\u2019s try a diplomatic solution. I think it\u2019s going to fail.\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Graham warned that Trump will take control of the Strait of Hormuz by force and \u201cobliterate\u201d Iran if the talks collapse.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spent four-and-a-half hours with President Trump, Friday. Here\u2019s what I think will happen next. If this deal fails, President Trump is going to take the Strait of Hormuz over by force,\u201d the hawkish senator explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Iran contests control of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States, we will obliterate them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The South Carolina senator further predicted that if Hezbollah attacks Israel, \u201cthe new policy will be, we will attack Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump publicly threatened to bomb the Islamic Republic on Sunday and suggested charging tolls if America has to serve as the \u201cguardian angel\u201d of the critical waterway, where roughly a fifth of the world\u2019s seaborne oil supplies once flowed through annually.<\/p>\n

The president further vowed to \u201chit Iran very hard\u201d if Tehran fails to rein in its terrorist proxies from attacking Israel, alluding to Hezbollah. <\/p>\n

In addition to taking control over the strait, Graham boldly predicted that Trump will successfully be able to get Saudi Arabia into the Abraham Accords in \u201ccalendar year 2026\u201d and normalize relations between Riyadh and Israel.<\/p>\n

Graham recounted how Israel and Saudi Arabia were getting close to normalizing relations until the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. The senator stressed that such a feat \u201ccan\u2019t happen until Iran\u2019s in a box.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDonald Trump is going to empower me and others to jump-start \u2026 an effort to get Saudi to join Israel,\u201d Graham went on. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be accommodations made by Saudi and Israel. To Saudi and Israel, you have no better friend than Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n
