{"id":2489,"date":"2026-06-20T04:12:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T04:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2489"},"modified":"2026-06-20T04:12:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T04:12:12","slug":"with-strait-of-hormuz-held-hostage-trumps-iran-deal-is-worse-than-obamas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2489","title":{"rendered":"With Strait of Hormuz held hostage, Trump&#8217;s Iran deal is worse than Obama&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>As he prepared to sign his \u201cmemorandum of understanding\u201d with the Islamic dictatorship of Iran, President Trump again insisted that his deal was much different than that of his predecessor, President Barack Obama.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2487\">Dramatic 911 audio placed seconds after Karmelo Anthony murder revealed: \u2018My friend\u2019s bleeding everywhere\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s right \u2014 it\u2019s probably <em>worse<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Obama\u2019s treaty did not prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, it simply punted the issue down the road in exchange for cash.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s agreement has the same vague promises, the same payouts, but with the added twist that Iran can and will take the world hostage by shutting the Strait of Hormuz at will.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, just days after the signing of the MOU, Iran moved to close the Strait, saying no ships could cross without its permission and suggesting that \u201cinsurance fees\u201d must be paid.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t in violation of the deal. <\/p>\n<p>This is <em>part of the deal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Point No. 5: \u201cThe Islamic Republic of Iran will conduct dialog with the Sultanate of Oman to define the future administration and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Why would opening the door for \u201cadministration\u201d of a previously free international waterway even be part this agreement?<\/p>\n<p>How is this in any way the \u201cunconditional surrender\u201d Trump described?<\/p>\n<p>The deal contains just <em>one <\/em>condition Trump previously said was required of Iran. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s No. 7: \u201cIslamic Republic of Iran reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReaffirm\u201d \u2014 because that\u2019s what Iran has always claimed. <\/p>\n<p>If they suddenly mean it, it would be a win.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the 14-point plan is almost entirely about what Iran gets: Immediate sanctions relief on exported oil. <\/p>\n<p>Protection of Hezbollah from Israeli attack. <\/p>\n<p>And the possibility of a $300 billion reconstruction fund if all goes well with the next round of talks.<\/p>\n<p>No mention of Iran reining in its terror proxies in Gaza, Lebanon and Yemen. <\/p>\n<p>No restriction on conventional weapons. <\/p>\n<p>No mechanism to surrender the enriched uranium it has already created. <\/p>\n<p>No regime change or mercy for protesters.<\/p>\n<p>Trump had claimed Iran was days away from economic collapse because of the blockade. <\/p>\n<p>He said Iran\u2019s navy and air force were \u201cdecimated.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>This is the best deal we could get with the leverage we had?<\/p>\n<p>The president hasn\u2019t just moved the goalposts, he\u2019s changed the sport, the venue and the rules simply to declare a win.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t what Trump\u2019s voters want, despite the claims of the Tucker Carlson\u2019s of the world.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=2485\">Karmelo Anthony murmurs \u2018I\u2019m not alleged, I did it,\u2019 cries during arrest for Austin Metcalf\u2019s murder: bodycam<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Among self-identified MAGA Republicans, 51% favor regime change, while 25% back a negotiated settlement, according to a new Reagan Institute Summer Survey.<\/p>\n<p>This shouldn\u2019t be about the podcasters, it\u2019s about the people.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is betraying his base \u2014 and his allies.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of allies, Vice President J.D.
