The sister of one of the Gilgo Beach killer\u2019s victims confronted the hulking monster in Long Island court Wednesday \u2014 asking him to look at her as she reminded him of the taunting phone calls he made to gloat about the murder.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cLook at me while I\u2019m talking,\u201d\u00a0Amanda Funderburg told\u00a0Rex Heuermann, the serial killer who strangled her sister, Melissa Barthelemy, to death in 2009 \u2014 saying he should at least look her in the eyes.<\/p>\n

Funderburg was just 15 when her sister was murdered in 2009 \u2014 and was forced to endure cruel calls from\u00a0Heuermann\u00a0after the grisly slaying.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was forced to live with crippling anxiety, depression, PTSD, and destroyed nervous system constantly staring at my phone,\u201d Funderberg told the killer. \u201cBecause of the several times you had called me from my sister\u2019s phone telling me she was a whore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Funderburg was one of 13 relatives of Heuermann\u2019s eight victims to speak before\u00a0he was sentenced\u00a0\u2014 facing the cowardly killer for the first time since his 2023 arrest.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 62-year-old architect confessed in April to slaying eight Long Island sex workers between 1993 and 2010 \u2014 as part of a plea deal that saw him sentenced to three life terms on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Melissa Cann, whose sister Maureen Brainard-Barnes was among Heuermann\u2019s victims, also scolded the admitted killer.<\/p>\n

\u201cRex, I noticed a slight smile,\u201d Cann said, growing physically emotional during her statement. \u201cThere is no honor in this. You\u2019re a coward who hid behind a mask. You hunted and murdered to satisfy the darkness within you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nicolette Brainard-Barnes, Maureen Brainard-Barnes\u2019 daughter, was 7-years-old when her mother was killed.<\/p>\n
