Big Apple Knicks fans are getting creative, cooking up absurd schemes to blow off work on Thursday for the NBA champions\u2019 ticker-tape parade down the Canyon of Heroes.<\/p>\n

Some will call in sick, some won\u2019t show up at work and hope for the best, while others will hope their bosses understand \u2014 but they\u2019re not missing the massive celebrations for their hometown heroes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m gonna start coughing on Wednesday, get the next fever,\u201d TV studio tech Kenny Rosa said Monday. \u201cAnd then as soon as I clock out, I\u2019m calling out for the next day, calling out sick.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a mental health day,\u201d said Yale Club worker Sam Suarez. \u201cIt is a mental health day, and you got sick days, and you just call in and say, \u2018Hey, listen. I gotta go.\u2019 And that\u2019s all.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, sometimes you don\u2019t have to explain because in the lie, they can find out.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Jersey native Justin said he snuck into the city for the big parade after skipping out on his job \u2014 in Seattle. \u201cI am unwell and I will be back when I\u2019m feeling better,\u201d he told his bosses.<\/p>\n

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the Knicks\u2019 victory parade could prove to be the largest in the city\u2019s history, and it\u2019s a can\u2019t miss for diehard fans who just saw the hometown team win its first NBA title in 53 years.<\/p>\n

The Game 5 win over the hated San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night launched the city into a massive celebration that has yet to subside \u2014 and will be capped with Thursday\u2019s parade.<\/p>\n

For long-suffering fans, it could be worth risking your job.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m calling out, respectfully,\u201d one Harlem fan told The Post. <\/p>\n

Asked what he would tell his boss, he said: \u201cMy dog got sick.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another Knicks fan said he planned to use a ploy that worked in the past, saying he \u201cwould make myself fall down on purpose in front of my bosses,\u201d and claim the \u201cinjury\u201d would keep him home. <\/p>\n

Long Island sanitation worker David Polonia had another plan in mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him I had a doctor\u2019s appointment,\u201d he said. \u201cHe didn\u2019t seem too happy about it, but he accepted it.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, more than a few fans said they\u2019ll be honest about the whole thing and hope for the best. <\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone knows, I think my employer shows,\u201d lifelong fan David Dweck said. \u201cThis is what it is. We are living in New York and love the Knicks\u2026. We\u2019re calling out of work and it is what it is.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying that I\u2019m coming to the parade,\u201d Dweck added. \u201cI love my Knicks and I will suffer the consequences a little later.\u201d<\/p>\n
