Mike Breen, ESPN\u2019s lead broadcast voice for the NBA Finals and the longtime voice of the Knicks for MSG Network, got to make arguably the biggest call of his play-by-play career on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s over! It\u2019s over! Knick fans, this is not a dream!\u201d Breen, a Yonkers native, said as the clock ticked down on the Knicks\u2019 94-90 win in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, a victory that gave them their first title since 1973. \u201cYour long, long wait is ended. Go ahead and cry: after 53 years, the Knicks are finally NBA Champions once again!\u201d<\/p>\n

The 65-year-old, well-known for his iconic \u201cBang!\u201d call to signify a big-shot shot, knew he\u2019d have to keep his composure as the clock ticked to zero on a potential Knicks championship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe No. 1 thing for me is I\u2019ve got a job to do, and I have to do a professional job,\u201d Breen said on a media call ahead of the NBA Finals. \u201cAnd with all the responsibilities that go into it, both prior and during the course of the series, that\u2019s what I\u2019m concentrating on now.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the series goes on every year, no matter who\u2019s in it, you try and think of OK, how am I going to word this? How am I going to wrap up, summarize, what this means to the winning team, what it means to the losing team, and you wait \u2019til the series goes on before you really get into those thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, the man who grew up a Knicks fan and attended Fordham University in the Bronx, was not entirely ready to think about the possibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do know what it would mean to the city and to the fans of the city,\u201d he said. \u201cIt might be one of the great moments in the history of New York sports if they win because of what the fan base has gone through and how loyal they\u2019ve been to the team.<\/p>\n
