DeRIDDER, Louisiana \u2014 Disgraced Louisiana Mayor Misty Roberts was torched by her teenage victim\u2019s mother as she was sentenced to 90 days in jail for having sex with her son\u2019s friend at a drunken party in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cDanger doesn\u2019t always look like danger. Danger doesn\u2019t always look like a man with candy or a puppy in a van or strangers we tell our kids to beware of,\u201d the mother told Misty at her sentencing hearing Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis predator has hair extensions, high heels, Botox and other augmentations,\u201d she added, choking back tears.<\/p>\n

Misty, a 43-year-old mother of two, said she will serve the time instead of posting the $150,000 bond ordered by the judge \u2013 but she also dodged a huge prison sentence.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors asked the judge to give her the max, 17 years, after she was convicted in March of having sex with the woman\u2019s 16-year-old son in July 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The age of consent in Louisiana\u00a0is 17.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn your statement today I didn\u2019t feel totally comfortable with that. I was not particularly swayed by that,\u201d Judge D. Kent Savoie said, explaining her didn\u2019t buy her misty-eyed apology. \u201cI was substantially touched by what I heard about how this affected the victims family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Savoie also meted out two 5-year suspended sentences and mandated that Roberts undergo therapy and pass regular drug and alcohol tests.<\/p>\n

The then-mayor was throwing a party for her own son\u2019s birthday, where she was flirting with his 16-year-old friend before taking the boy into a room and having sex with him.<\/p>\n

And the boy\u2019s mother said his life hasn\u2019t been the same since.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou thought so much of yourself in that bikini that night you knew exactly what you were doing with his mind. He was 16,\u201d the mom said. \u201cWhat hurt almost as much as the initial betrayal was the attempt to shift the blame onto a 16-year-old boy from a 42-year-old woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what category of innocence you thought you were in,\u201d she added, also calling Misty out for initially trying to avoid blame and telling her family to \u201clie till you die\u201d about what happened.<\/p>\n

The lewd crime turned into a scene when partygoers started noticing what was going on, with Misty\u2019s own kids catching her in the act.<\/p>\n

A screaming match erupted, with Misty\u2019s son yelling that she \u201ceffed\u201d his \u201cbest friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then when word got out about what happened, the victim\u2019s mother requested Misty take a morning after pill to make sure she didn\u2019t get pregnant.<\/p>\n

\u201cOut of respect for both our families, can you assure me that you can\u2019t be pregnant?\u201d the mother asked Misty by text.<\/p>\n

Misty replied that she was on birth control and that the sex \u201cdidn\u2019t reach that point in those few minutes to have that concern,\u201d but she still took a Plan B pill that was delivered by DoorDash.<\/p>\n

The perv ex-mayor groveled for an apology at her sentencing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will blame myself for the rest of my life,\u201d she said. \u201cI have the perfect family, beautiful children but at some point I chose myself above everyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a lot a promises to a lot of people to put DeRidder on the map. But I didn\u2019t do it the way I wanted to,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Charles Robinson dismissed Mity\u2019s remorse outright at the hearing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a dumb lady. This is somebody who managed an entire city budget,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has not come to the realization of accountability,\u201d he added. \u201cShe is not sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n
