{"id":1377,"date":"2026-06-06T14:35:38","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T14:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=1377"},"modified":"2026-06-06T14:35:38","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T14:35:38","slug":"exclusive-nyc-prof-clamors-to-bring-down-us-empire-defends-irgc-during-islamic-revolution-teach-in-at-dsa-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=1377","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive | NYC prof clamors to &#8216;bring down US empire,&#8217; defends IRGC during &#8216;Islamic Revolution Teach-in&#8217; at DSA meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A controversial Israel-and-US-hating NYC college professor defended the murderous Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as she clamored to bring down the US empire \u201cby any means necessary\u201d at a meeting of the Democratic Socialists of America.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=1375\">How little-known assistant coach saved Knicks from crushing collapse: \u2018Master at this\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Corinna Mullin, a radical political science prof once arrested for leading anti-Israel protests that resulted in $3 million in damage to the City College of New York\u2019s Harlem campus, lauded Iran\u2019s \u201cphenomenal\u201d military for depleting US weapons stockpiles in the Middle East, as she urged support for its armed forces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran\u00a0has\u00a0won\u00a0this\u00a0war. . . . its\u00a0indigenous\u00a0military\u00a0industry\u00a0has\u00a0produced\u00a0phenomenal\u00a0results,\u201d she claimed during an unhinged hour and a half \u201cIslamic Revolution Teach-in\u201d she gave to the NYC chapter of the DSA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is having a huge toll on the capacity of the US empire to impose its will. . . . We need to bring the empire down by any means necessary,\u201d she raged.<\/p>\n<p>Mullin, who specializes in teaching anticolonialism, was fired by CUNY in 2025 after eight years on the job.<\/p>\n<p>The termination came after she led an April 2024 encampment\u00a0at the City College of New York. She fought the move and was reinstated this year, though her\u00a0name didn\u2019t appear on CUNY faculty pages and it\u2019s unclear if she taught any classes there this spring semester. She also teaches at The New School.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to more than two-dozen comrades Wednesday evening, she painted Iran\u2019s murderous Islamic regime in a socialist light to justify funding its military \u2014 while making zero mention of the riches Iran\u2019s ruling elite has famously amassed through the control of oil and state-owned resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d love to see a world with no militaries. But we can\u2019t have peace without justice,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd so, a state like Iran needs to divert a significant portion of its surplus into military industrialization, so it can defend its workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state itself is working on behalf of the working class,\u201d she insisted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can talk about the Epstein class and the depravity of the ruling class today, which knows no limits on violence. So, I\u2019m sorry, I defend the IRGC,\u201d she proclaimed tearfully. \u201cI defend the incredible role the Iranian state has done to defend the working class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a working-class war,\u201d she claimed.<\/p>\n<p>The DSA members ate it right up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is excellent,\u201d raved DSA leader Cass Roach, telling Mullin she can go past her allotted time. \u201cIncredible!\u201d gushed another.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=1373\">Erika Kirk won\u2019t let heckler ruin Turning Point summit speech as she wows crowd with clapback<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrankly, people are scared to be seen as sympathetic to the Iranian government, it\u2019s something that\u2019s really holding us back,\u201d whined Roach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter what your opinions might be on the Iranian government or on particular policies, we are living in the heart of empire and our goal is to disrupt this war machine by \u2014 I\u2019m glad we\u2019re not recording right now \u2014 but I\u2019ll just say here, by any means necessary,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is our role. Our role is not to nitpick and to implement these types of purity tests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mullin also incredulously praised the repressive and bloodthirsty Iranian regime for its \u201cstrong gender inclusion\u201d \u2014 failing to mention women face death by hanging if they leave the house without being fully covered \u2014 and for \u201cprioritizing human life,\u201d despite an estimated more than 36,000 protestors killed since late December.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is grotesque that a professor at a New York university is standing in front of an American political organization to launder the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps \u2014 a US-designated terrorist organization with American and Iranian blood on its hands,\u201d lambasted Andrew Ghalili, an Iranian-American who serves as Policy Director at the National Union for Democracy in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who poses as a defender of human rights while running interference for the IRGC is either dangerously ignorant of who its victims are or does not care, because the IRGC is the single greatest violator of Iranians\u2019 human rights,\u201d he told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalling that apparatus \u2018self-defense\u2019 and suggesting it deserves funding is a moral disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mullin \u2014 who has worked with the Samidoun network, a sham charity which the State Department has said acts as a front for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terrorist organization \u2014 wrote a \u201cred paper\u201d in May titled \u201cThe Multiple Fronts of Iranian Anti-Imperialism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New School and CUNY didn\u2019t immediately answer The Post\u2019s questions on Mullin\u2019s working status, or her embrace of the IRGC.
