MCKINNEY, Texas \u2014 High school track star Karmelo Anthony was asked 15 times to leave the tent for an opposing team but \u201crefused\u201d to \u2014 allegedly sparking the deadly stabbing of fellow teen Austin Metcalf last year, a witness testified Friday.<\/p>\n

The witness, a 17-year-old Frisco Memorial High School student, explained that he and at least six others were under their school\u2019s team tent when he saw Anthony in their area wearing the opposing Frisco Centennial High School gear.<\/p>\n

Memorial students started telling Anthony, \u201cYou probably shouldn\u2019t be here, you need to leave our tent,\u201d recounted the witness \u2014 whose name was ordered to be withheld because of his age.<\/p>\n

Several teammates asked Anthony, then 17, to leave around 15 times, including Metcalf.<\/p>\n

\u201cTouch me and find out,\u201d Anthony responded at the Kuykendall Stadium.<\/p>\n

During the roughly two-minute tiff, Metcalf, 17, gave Anthony a \u201cminor pushing\u201d and Anthony stabbed Metcalf, the teen testified.<\/p>\n

Leading up to the fatal moment, Anthony had his hand in his open backpack on his lap but the students all thought he was bluffing, the witness said.<\/p>\n

Anthony ditched the knife and bolted down the stands and onto the track. <\/p>\n

Metcalf fell on his back, stood back up and lifted his shirt as he leaned on the railing \u2014 with a scared look on his face as he saw his bleeding chest, the teen claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he said, \u2018Oh my God,’\u201d he recalled Metcalf saying.<\/p>\n

Jurors then heard a 911 call made by the witness in which he frantically told the operator \u201cMy friend just got stabbed. My friend is bleeding everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

The teen denied that the Memorial students \u201cganged up\u201d on Anthony, instead claiming that Anthony \u201ccreated a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jalen Matthews, a second teammate of Metcalf who is 18 and has since graduated, testified during the entire exchange Mecalf\u2019s twin, Hunter, was on his phone believing the sibling would handle the situation.<\/p>\n

And one of the Memorial students said, \u201cYou have nothing in the backpack, you\u2019re from Frisco,\u201d Matthews recalled.<\/p>\n

Anthony was looking off into the distance and he \u201cclearly knew what he had his mind set on,\u201d Matthews said.<\/p>\n

He recalled that Metcalf pushed Anthony upward \u201clike lineman drills\u201d and at the same time Anthony moved to stand stabbing Metcalf.<\/p>\n

Matthews said it didn\u2019t look like the knifing was in self-defense because Metcalf wasn\u2019t threatening Anthony.<\/p>\n

He said Anthony was the instigator.<\/p>\n

Earlier Friday, the jury heard Hunter sobbing and screaming on a body cam video played in court in the moments after Austin was stabbed.<\/p>\n

Anthony\u2019s lawyer claimed Metcalf provoked Anthony and the April 2, 2025 stabbing was in self-defense. <\/p>\n
