Far-left congressional hopeful Darializa Avila Chevalier \u2013 already under fire over a slew of unhinged social media rants \u2013 castigated the US over Russia\u2019s 2022 invasion of Ukraine in a since-deleted post in which she echoed Moscow\u2019s line.<\/p>\n

Chevalier, endorsed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani against incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat, made the eyebrow-raising claim on Feb. 23, 2022, as Russian forces stormed into Ukraine and missiles bombarded Kyiv and other cities.<\/p>\n

\u201cCause the Cold War ended and we\u2019ve been bullying Russia ever since,\u201d Chevalier, then 28, raged at a user who asked why the US was \u201cinvolved\u201d in the conflict.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso war is lucrative for these sociopaths,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The exchange was first reported by Politico and is still available on the Internet Archive\u2019s Wayback Machine.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Chevalier \u2014 who hopes to represent Upper Manhattan and the West Bronx by winning the June 23 primary\u2013 refused to explain to Politico who she was branding \u201csociopaths.\u201d<\/p>\n

A rep for Chevalier did not immediately respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, her comments mirrored talking points repeatedly pushed by Russian President Vladimir Putin before and during the four-plus-year-old war.<\/p>\n

In April 2021, Putin raged in a Moscow speech: \u201cSome countries have developed a nasty habit of bullying Russian for any reason or without any reason at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Kremlin has also blamed the post-Cold War growth of the NATO alliance for its belligerence, saying the West is infringing on historically Russian territory.<\/p>\n

Chevalier has been endorsed by Mamdani despite a series of offensive unearthed social media posts that include calling Joe Biden a \u201crapist\u201d and \u201cwar criminal\u201d during the 2020 presidential election and referring to the US as a \u201cf\u2014ing disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also gleefully posted about wiping her dirty hands on the American flag and described interracial relationships involving white females as \u201cfetishizing ugly colonizer women.<\/p>\n

Chevalier \u2013 a former worker on Hizzoner\u2019s mayoral campaign \u2013 called for the seizure of property from landlords and the abolition of police and prisons in even more jaw-dropping posts, in which she also rejected the existence of the state of Israel.<\/p>\n

In August 2020, the warped candidate retweeted a post that read \u201cIsrael suddenly disappears, your third emoji is your reaction,\u201d with the reply \u201cTrick question \u2014 Israel doesn\u2019t exist!\u201d<\/p>\n

Chevalier also lashed out at US service members in a sickening 2022 post, accusing them of committing \u201cwar crimes\u201d and mocking the high level of homelessness among war veterans.<\/p>\n

The candidate has tried to put the unearthed social posts behind her, trying to say she doesn\u2019t want to relitigate her prior political stances.<\/p>\n

But Espaillat argued on WNYC Radio Thursday that his rival\u2019s posts are the only record the public has on her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mamdani has stood by Chevalier \u2013 even doubling down on his support \u2013 with the pair spotted Game 1 of the NBA Finals together.<\/p>\n

Follwoing the Knicks\u2019 105-95 win over the San Antonio Spurs, an ad highlighting Mamdani\u2019s endorsements of Chevalier, former city Comptroller Brad Lander and state Assemblywoman Claire Valdez in House primaries aired on WABC-TV.<\/p>\n
