A Miami biotech executive was followed into the skyscraper where he lived by a man who is accused of pushing\u00a0him off the building\u2019s 25th floor, newly released surveillance video shows.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Justin Zelin, 35, was seen walking into Miami Beach\u2019s 47-story Akoya Condominium with a bearded man, Corey Hutterli, 37, following on Feb. 12 \u2014 three days before his death, NBC6 reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Zelin, who was wearing a casual outfit, threw away some trash in a garbage can before walking up to the entry door in the high-rise condominium\u2019s parking lot, unaware he would fall to his death.<\/p>\n

Hutterli, who was wearing a bucket hat, was following closely behind, carrying bottles of alcohol.<\/p>\n

Just three days later, Harvard graduate Zelin called 911 to report a disturbance. During the call, he ordered Hutterli to leave the apartment, WPLG reported.<\/p>\n

Zelin, who had worked as a biotechnology equity research analyst at BTIG since January 2021, reportedly shouted, \u201cGet away from me, Sasha,\u201d using a nickname by which Hutterli was known.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

There was a bust-up and cops said, \u201cDuring said physical altercation defendant Hutterli caused victim Zelin to perish due to blunt force trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zelin\u2019s body hit a path on the ground floor, according to surveillance video recorded eight minutes after the 911 call. <\/p>\n

Hutterli\u2019s defense team claimed Zelin \u201cwent over the balcony\u201d after an alleged mental episode.<\/p>\n

They claimed Zelin, who was identified as JZ in court documents, screamed at Hutterli in \u201cwhat can only be described as a complete break with reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJZ can be heard ranting, claiming that he was killed by a homeless person, and insisting that he is dead. <\/p>\n

\u201cDuring this mental break, JZ ran in and out of the apartment, and then he went over the balcony of his 25th-floor condo and fell to his death.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the state of Hutterli\u2019s body suggested something more sinister had happened. He had scratches on his cheek, and a cut on his thumb.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was also in what \u201cappears to be an excited state, according to police.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s going on?\u201d a shoeless Hutterli asked one officer.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody, he freaked out, attacked me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The cop asked Hutterli if he was alone, to which he replied, \u201cNo I don\u2019t know where he is.
\u201cI kept telling him to relax.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hutterli then blurted out, \u201cWhat is the situation? Did he jump?\u201d<\/p>\n

Cops then searched the apartment \u2013 which had items strewn inside \u2013 and they found Hutterli\u2019s bucket hat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There were blood spatters on the rails, and clumps of Hutterli\u2019s beard hair were also found.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Blood was also found on Hutterli\u2019s shirt \u2013 and they found ketamine in his bag.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hutterli was arrested on April 8 and faces a second-degree murder charge, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.<\/p>\n

Cops were able to make an arrest after Zelin\u2019s DNA was discovered on Hutterli\u2019s jacket. <\/p>\n

He also faces burglary with assault or battery,\u00a0possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia charges.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

Tributes, meanwhile, were paid to Zelin following his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cJustin was one of the best biotech analysts I have ever worked with,\u201d friend Amit Jolly wrote on Linkedin.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHis work was rigorous, thoughtful, and deeply coordinated.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had a rare ability to see around corners and articulate complex ideas with clarity and conviction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cOur field has lost an extraordinary mind, and many of us have lost a trusted voice and friend.\u201d<\/p>\n
