First of all he\u2019s an idiot, okay? What do you mean you\u2019re pleasure[d] to meet the president? Like is English your first language? What are you saying?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reid said the appearance was enough to sour her on the franchise she supported growing up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was really kind of repulsed as a Giants fan \u2014 former now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The comments came days after Dart publicly addressed criticism over his appearance alongside Trump at Rockland Community College.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously this was a unique opportunity, being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States,\u201d Dart told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy thinking was pretty simple in the fact, I\u2019ve always loved this country,\u201d he said, adding that members of his family served in the military and that he has \u201calways\u201d respected the office of the presidency \u201cregardless of political affiliation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dart also acknowledged the scrutiny that comes with being the quarterback of the Giants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also understand in this world, politics can be a sensitive matter, a sensitive topic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=1053\">Trump announces pick for acting director of national intelligence after Tulsi Gabbard resignation<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also understand that I\u2019m the quarterback of the New York Giants and that involves a lot of responsibility \u2014 it\u2019s under a limelight, under a microscope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reid rejected arguments that Dart was merely showing respect for the presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is Donald Trump is not a normal president,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis isn\u2019t praising the presidency or praising the idea of America or an American president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reid went further, claiming Trump is \u201ca wannabe king.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in the 250th anniversary of our divorce from the king of England and Donald Trump is trying to be a king,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Dart\u2019s appearance at the event sparked internal discussions within the Giants organization and drew criticism from teammate Abdul Carter before the two publicly reconciled and embraced following practice.<\/p>\n<p>Dart defended his decision to introduce Trump, telling reporters that he viewed the invitation as a chance to show respect for the office of the presidency rather than make a political statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously this was a unique opportunity, being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the president of the United States,\u201d Dart said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that he comes from a family with a history of military service and public service, saying he has \u201calways\u201d respected the presidency \u201cregardless of political affiliation, regardless of political party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The second-year quarterback also acknowledged that the appearance generated controversy because of his role as the face of the Giants franchise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also understand in this world, politics can be a sensitive matter, a sensitive topic,\u201d Dart said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI also understand that I\u2019m the quarterback of the New York Giants and that involves a lot of responsibility \u2014 it\u2019s under a limelight, under a microscope and there\u2019s a lot that comes with that, and it\u2019s something that I\u2019ve embraced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dart said the episode led to candid conversations inside the Giants locker room but insisted the team remains united despite differing political views.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can honestly say that I love every single one of my brothers, my teammates on this team, regardless of politics, regardless of religious beliefs, regardless of anything that may be different between us,\u201d he said, adding that he hoped to keep those discussions private.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/metrotransitreview.com\/?p=1051\">Exclusive | Why the jury might not buy Karmelo Anthony\u2019s self-defense claim in fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Post has sought comment from Dart.
