The 2024 Tesla hit a mailbox at around 2:43 a.m. before striking scaffolding outside 315 Madison Ave. just before 3 a.m., traveling several blocks east along East 42nd Street before coming to a stop at the intersection of Second Avenue, the NYPD said.

Pictures from the scene show the heavily damaged Tesla at the intersection Wednesday morning.

Both occupants were rushed to a nearby hospital where the 27-year-old passenger was pronounced dead.
