Dramatic twist in harassment suit against star CBS correspondent Matt Gutman

CBS News star Matt Gutman is in the clear after a former coworker moved to have him dropped from a harassment suit filed against the correspondent and his former network.

Ex-ABC News coworker Samira Said dropped him from her wrongful termination lawsuit.

Former ABC News staffer Samira Said had alleged that Gutman made sexualized comments during two assignments several years ago, naming him in a lawsuit filed against the network and its parent company, The Walt Disney Co., in Los Angeles Superior Court last month.

On Friday, her lawyers filed a request with the court to drop Gutman from the complaint. It’s unclear why the decision was made.

Gutman’s current network, CBS News, declined to comment Saturday. The California Post contacted the correspondent for comment.

CBS News boss Bari Weiss hired Gutman shortly after taking the reins in October 2025.

According to the initial suit, Said claimed Gutman began discussing and rating the appearance of a female correspondent while the two were on an assignment.

Other male crew members allegedly joined the conversation and tried to get Said to weigh in. She refused and told them the discussion was inappropriate, according to the lawsuit.

Said also alleged a second incident occurred while she and Gutman were covering a press event for a movie release. The two disagreed about whether they should leave the work site, the suit claimed, with Gutman allegedly responding with a “sexualized insinuation” about Said in front of several coworkers.

Said alleged the comments were demeaning and “reduced [her] professional judgment to a sexualized stereotype.”

She is still pursuing a wrongful termination lawsuit against ABC News and The Walt Disney Co.

Said, who worked as an ABC News field producer for four years, claims she was wrongfully fired in 2025 after dealing with mental health issues.
