WNBA legend says Enes Kanter should be banned by the league

Angel McCoughtry, a 13-year WNBA veteran and 5-time All-Star, did not hold back while reacting to Enes Kanter Freedom’s ejection from the Sky-Fever game on Sunday and the league’s dildo problem.

“I just have a question to the guys out there. What is the obsession? The dildos are being thrown on the ground,” McCoughtry told TMZ Sports when asked whether the WNBA should ban him league-wide after the Sky banned him from Wintrust Arena.

“You guys are coming with the shirts. There’s no transgender in the WNBA. So y’all are going on a frenzy about what? What is the obsession with this? Why can’t we play and have fun?”

“… There’s a reason Enes is banned from his country, Turkey. Something’s going on with that. But like, leave women alone. Who messes with women? If you mess with women, you’re a weak man.”

Freedom, who played 11 seasons in the NBA, was ejected by security after a verbal altercation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud during a timeout called in the third quarter.

He was wearing a black T-shirt that read, “WOMAN noun. adult human female.”

McCoughtry emphasized that Freedom should be banned from all 15 WNBA arenas.

“Real NBA players, they don’t have time for that,” McCoughtry said. “They come and support our game and we figure out ways we can create and grow.

“… What, are you about to come to L.A. next and do it or go to New York next and do it? So yeah, you should be banned. And then to prove a point. That we don’t have time for that and we’re not tolerating that kind of behavior. Leave us alone.

“… There’s not an active trans player in the WNBA. Why y’all keep coming at us? … It has nothing to do with us right now. If it happened, then have the conversation. It’s not happening.”

Freedom declared for the 2027 WNBA draft earlier this month amid debates regarding transgender athletes in women’s sports.

Freedom and former NBA player Royce White, who also declared for the draft, will not be eligible to play in the WNBA after both declared themselves women and eligible for the next draft, though Freedom refuted the reports.

McCoughtry went on to say that “it’s disrespectful” for people to come to WNBA arenas and throw sex toys after an individual threw a green dildo onto the court during the Dream-Sparks game at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles last week.

“You’ve never seen a woman go to an NBA game and throw vagina toys or something like that,” she said. “Men have to stop being obsessed with women and wanting to control our success and wanting to be in control all the time. Anything women do, it’s always gotta be a man.

“… Men, you gotta respect women … Give us the respect we be giving y’all, the respect y’all want. I’ve been in the league too many years to be seeing this. Come on now, get it together.”

The individual who threw the dildo was arrested after being apprehended by arena security.

The person, who was not named, reportedly received an indefinite ban from all WNBA, NBA and other league-affiliated games and events.

The WNBA addressed the matter last season after numerous instances of dildos being thrown on the hardwood at games in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Phoenix and Los Angeles.
