The no-standards left is run by scoundrels, fraudsters and morons now

The American left’s advocacy for tried-and-failed ideas, embrace of fair-is-foul and foul-is-fair morality and disdain for excellence has — surprise, surprise — rendered it incapable of rebuking its ascendant class of scoundrels, fraudsters and morons.

Exhibit A: the celebration of Karen Attiah’s reinstatement at The Washington Post by a mouth-breathing arbitrator on Monday.

After announcing the news on X, Attiah, a race-hustling antisemite who was let go last September over a series of jaw-dropping social media posts about the assassination of Charlie Kirk, was greeted like a war hero returning from the front.

Jim Acosta called it “Great news!”; George Conway congratulated her; Peter Beinart marveled at her “courage.”

For her part, Attiah asserted that she had been fired “for speaking the truth after Charlie Kirk’s killing.”

As is her custom, she had gotten it completely backwards.

Devoid of intelligent thought and replete with hideous instincts, Attiah took to the keyboard after Kirk’s murder by a politically motivated cretin.

“Part of what keeps America so violent is the insistence that people perform care, empty goodness and absolution for white men who espouse hatred and violence,” Attiah mused in one hateful (is there any other kind?) Bluesky post.

In another, she attributed the suggestion that “Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot” to Kirk.

The problem — and for the uninitiated, this is a biggie in the field of journalism — is that she fabricated the quote.

What Kirk had actually argued was that the left wished to have its cake and eat it too on affirmative action.

Attiah lied about what Kirk said, misconstrued opposition to racial quotas as appalling bigotry and smeared the victim of a grisly murder.

Both revolting and incompetent, she’s the kind of person you’d be embarrassed to know, much less employ.

Yet none other than former President Barack Obama came rushing to her defense in the aftermath of her ouster by mendaciously spouting off about the First Amendment.

That the single most influential figure in Democratic Party politics felt compelled to associate himself with this lowlife is telling.

With few exceptions, leftists have abandoned standards altogether, opting instead to mount endless defenses of the indefensible.

Take the meteoric rise of Hasan Piker.

Piker believes the United States got what was coming to it on September 11, 2001, has made light of Kirk’s murder and is among the country’s leading purveyors of antisemitism.

In one recent Twitch stream, he pinned the blame for American Jews’ persecution on their affinity for Israel, which he referred to as “Jewish ISIS.”

Yet Zohran Mamdani, Abdul El-Sayed and other Democrats continue to campaign alongside him.

Sen. Bernie Sanders even went so far as to tell James Carville to pound sand after he objected to Piker’s growing influence.

“Well, that’s not much of a choice. If Mr. Carville doesn’t want to be in my party, in the party that I belong to, that Piker, that El-Sayed belongs to, he can start his own party,” declared Sanders.

Perverse, yes — but hardly unexpected.

This is the same party that stood by Graham Platner through a Nazi tattoo, abuse allegations and jaw-dropping rants about cheap black people and wounded American soldiers, abandoning him only when it became clear he would cost them a Senate seat.

The same movement that has elevated Mamdani and El-Sayed’s less militant, but more insidious brand of anti-Americanism.

And the same group of people who created the conditions that allowed the fabulist Jason Arday to become a star, then insisted he had been lynched after his many sins were made public.

They’ll miscast fabricated quotes as free speech, excuse 9/11 apologism and allow plagiarists to commit institutional arson so long as they count the offenders among their ideological allies.

As the left continues to radicalize, it’s increasingly prone to letting outrageously bad conduct, outright lies and mediocrity run rampant.

Because bad ideas — from de facto race essentialism, to Third Worldist revisionism, to collectivist economics — not only attract the villainous and asinine, but rob others of the ability to police them.
