The Manchester City star, known for his long blonde locks, dropped a YouTube video and several photos across social media on Sunday, showing off his new short hair hours before the club’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth.
It’s quite a shift after he has rocked the Viking-like hair throughout his four years at the club.
In the YouTube clip, his longtime girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen, 22, could be seen in the room and she admitted “I think I will cry” after the long locks are gone.
She yelped after the first few chunks of hair were cut off and said “Oh my god” when looking at them in her hands.
When the forward achieved his desired buzz cut, Johansen yelped again when looking at him and put her hands over her mouth in shock.
After several more “Oh my god” reactions, she eventually was pleasantly surprised, saying “It looks nice. You look cute.”
The comment wasn’t exactly what Haaland, 25, wanted to hear as he was going for a more tough guy look.
“I’ll wake up in the morning and think, who’s that?” Johansen added.
Johansen, who posted a photo from Sunday’s match on her Instagram story, shared she also went for a fresh hair cut.
“A lil refresh for fall x,” she wrote to her 2.1 million followers with one jumping in the comments to say “family haircut day.”
The couple, who grew up together in Bryne, Norway, were a major highlight throughout the FIFA World Cup this summer as Haaland represented his country and pushed them to the quarterfinals.
Once the Norwegian moved to Germany to play for Borussia Dortmund, Johansen reached out to him on Instagram.
“She sent me a message,” Haaland previously said. “She was the one who checked me out. I wasn’t the one who checked her out.”
The two welcomed a son in December 2024, but have not publicly shared a picture of him nor revealed his name.
Before chopping his hair, Haaland said Zlatan Ibrahimović warned him not to because “your strength is in your hair.”
Yet he went through with it, neglecting the former Barcelona and Manchester United forward’s advice and the biblical story of Samson.
While in the barber’s chair, Haaland tried to imagine how the City fans would react.
“Can’t wait for the fans to sing, ‘Who the f—ing hell is that?’” he laughed. “I want Man City fans to sing that.”
“Imagine if I score a header tomorrow,” he added.
Soon after the World Cup, Haaland and Johansen stayed busy and in the spotlight as they stunned at the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in Taormina, Sicily last month.
The two also recently attended a Jennifer Lopez concert in Sicily where Haaland got “jealous” as actor Michele Morrone spoke with Jonansen.
