Masked immigration officials yanked a San Francisco man from his car on Wednesday morning in a dramatic interaction caught on video.

Several officers were seen handcuffing the man, who has not been identified, according to the SF Standard.

Charlie Steinberg, 17, witnessed the interaction in the city’s Sunnyside neighborhood. She said she saw an SUV pull up and several people got out of it wearing masks, bulletproof vests and armed with rifles.

She rushed inside a home to alert her friend’s father, who began looking outside his window. The man, named only as Manoj, said the episode was over within five minutes.

“They went through his pockets, took everything out, and then put him into their car,” Manoj said.

At least one of the people wore a vest that said “police federal officer.” At least six federal officers are seen in the video.

In the video, the man is seen being arrested by three officers while one searches a car, another looks on, and a sixth walks off-screen. None of the officers had matching clothing outside their vests, and some wore bandanas.

Officers arrested the man and drove off. The car near the man was reportedly registered to Marvin Godoy Calderon.

Calderon has a past arrest linked to an operation selling stolen merchandise in October 2023. The then-43-year-old was cited and released for 496(a) PC (Possession of Stolen Property).

San Francisco District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar told The Standard that ICE did take a man into custody and legal counsel is representing him, but wouldn’t identify the person.

Manoj told The Standard that the man moved into a house on the street recently, and didn’t speak much English.

It’s unclear which agency conducted the arrest.

A group that monitors ICE activity, the SF Rapid Response Network, said they received a report of suspicious activity where the man was arrested.
