Luigi Mangione’s NYC trial rules revealed as court OKs 86 news orgs, anonymous jury — after concerns of ‘intimidation’ by sick fans

The rules of Luigi Mangione’s high-profile murder trial were revealed Tuesday by a Manhattan judge — after concerns over “intimidation” by the alleged CEO killer’s twisted fans were brought to light by prosecutors.

In a brief pre-trial hearing, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro said that Mangione’s September trial will include an overflow room to accommodate additional space for media and spectators — and that the jury will remain anonymous.

The ruling comes after both sides volleyed letters back and forth arguing over the logistics of the trial, most recently with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office raising concerns that some of Mangione’s supporters could “intimidate” witnesses.

“The media attention surrounding this case — and the efforts of some of defendant’s supporters both to intimidate witnesses and to interfere with the functioning of the jury — will place extraordinary pressure on witnesses and potential jurors alike,” a letter filed Monday by Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Joel Seidemann read.
