Hochul tries to dunk on Trump over Knicks fandom — but it totally backfires

Gov. Kathy Hochul tried to throw some shade at President Trump over his New York Knicks fandom — but totally threw up a brick instead.

The Democratic governor got totally self-owned Wednesday when a reporter asked her what she thought of the president saying he was a lifelong Knicks fan and inadvertently appeared to show she wasn’t exactly bleeding orange and blue by misstating their last championship run.

“I’d ask him to name the starting lineup from the 1993 championship team and see how he does,” Hochul said at an unrelated press conference in the Big Apple.

The Knicks last won a championship in 1973. The team did go to the finals in 1994, after the 1992-93 season.

The question came after Trump said he was hoping to head to Madison Square Garden to see the Knicks in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
