Tanker carrying natural gas through Strait of Hormuz attacked — as Americans urged to leave Middle East

A Bermuda-flagged tanker carrying liquefied natural gas through the Strait of Hormuz was reportedly struck by a missile Saturday, while US embassies in the region began urging Americans to leave the Middle East.

The Gaslog Shanghai LNG ship sustained damage to its engine room, rendering it inoperable off the Omani coast, Bloomberg reported, citing security intelligence sources.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations also alerted that a vessel was struck in the same location overnight Saturday, though the agency did not identify the ship.

Iran has yet to take credit for the attacks.

The Bermuda-flagged carrier had picked up an LNG shipment around July 27 and last sent a signal on Friday near the western entrance of Hormuz.

The attack comes just hours after President Trump directed more strikes on Iran that were expected to launch as soon as this weekend.
