NYC mom and grandmother arrested for murder after boy with autism, 16, dies of starvation: cops

A Bronx mom and grandmother were arrested Thursday after an autistic teen died of starvation and neglect four months ago – and the horrific death was ruled a homicide, cops and sources said.

Geneva Jarvis, 36, and Denise Jarvis, 62, were charged with murder in the March 19 death of Adonis Jarvis, 16, at Lincoln Medical Center’s pediatric division, police said.

Police were called to the hospital around 9:10 p.m. that day regarding the teen’s “suspicious death,” which has since been deemed a homicide by the city medical examiner’s office, police said.

The teen’s death resulted from chronic neglect, including starvation and dehydration, according to law enforcement sources.

It was not immediately clear how long the mistreatment was going on.

Adonis – as well as his autistic twin brother who was in a similar state – were brought to the hospital by their mother, the sources said.

The twin survived, according to the sources, but his current condition and whereabouts are unclear.

The family lived on East 147th Street near St. Ann’s Avenue, steps from St. Mary’s Park in the South Bronx.

Both mother and grandmother were awaiting arraignment Thursday.
