Long Island teen who killed ex in botched murder-suicide hired inmate to rob victim’s family

An accused Long Island puppy love killer who allegedly fatally shot his teenage ex in a botched murder-suicide was ordered to take a third psychological evaluation Tuesday — after prosecutors said he tried to hire a fellow inmate to rob her family.

Austin Lynch, 18 — who allegedly killed SUNY Oneonta student Emily Finn then turned the gun on himself when he ambushed her inside her home on Thanksgiving break last year — had initially been found unfit to stand trial in January.

But it was revealed in Riverhead court that a separate group of experts found him fit to stand trial in May.

“The court is now in an untenable position — I now have contradictory findings,” Judge Anthony Senft Jr. said.

“He is capable of standing trial on that second case. The only issue we have is the first case where he was found incompetent, and those two decisions are opposite each other,” he added.

In March, Lynch was charged separately for conspiring while in Suffolk lock-up to have another inmate break in and rob the home of the ex-girlfriend he is accused of killing.
