Cop’s son, 12, ID’d after being shot dead in NYC as harrowing video shows victim running into bodega clutching his chest
The innocent 12-year-old son of a cop who was shot dead in the Bronx was identified early Friday as Jacob Freytas — as heartbreaking video shows him collapsing in a bodega after running back in while clutching his chest.

Freytas, of Mount Eden, was an innocent bystander when a stray bullet hit him in the chest during a fight outside a store on Elliott Place near the Grand Concourse, shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday, cops said.
Security video obtained by The Post shows Jacob leaving his bike outside the bodega to go in and buy a ball, before coming out again just as a wild brawl breaks out in the street.
The 12-year-old bystander can be seen through the door as he gets on his bike to ride away — then looking at the commotion outside as shots are fired.
The preteen then gets off his bike and runs back into the bodega clutching his chest — with harrowing footage then showing him collapsing as others look on in horror.
Devastated loved ones told The Post on Saturday that the boy’s father is a police sergeant who was in Connecticut at the time of his son’s killing.

Julio Lopez, the boy’s uncle, said he was walking his dogs when he heard shots ring out and “saw people running from around the corner.”
“He was saying hi to guys up the block. He showed respect… He was a good kid. He’s gonna be missed,” added Lopez, who said he had seen Jacob just that morning.
Up to six men were reportedly involved in the violent brawl, although it wasn’t immediately clear how many people opened fire.
Two other males were shot during the fight outside the Wanda Deli Grocery, including a 34-year-old with a gunshot wound to the left foot, and a 25-year-old who was hit in the buttocks, according to the NYPD.
Jacob was hit through the shoulder and transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he died.

The other two victims were listed in stable condition.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing, the NYPD said.
