UWS stabbing suspect who yelled ‘Allahu Akbar!’ before attacks hit with hate crime charges: sources

The maniac accused of knifing a Jewish and Asian man in separate attacks on the Upper West Side on Thursday has been charged with hate crimes, law-enforcement sources said.

Raul Morales, 51, now faces raps of attempted murder as a hate crime and assault as a  hate crime for his attack on the Jewish victim, who was wearing a yarmulke when he was stabbed in the chest with a screwdriver in broad daylight, sources said.

Morales allegedly screamed, “Allahu Akbar!’’ during his rampage and also roamed around muttering, “Islam.”

The suspect also was charged with assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the attack, sources said.

Before attacking the Jewish man, Morales knifed an Asian passer-by in the back, police said.

He was charged in that crime with attempted murder,  assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon, sources said.

Both of his victims are still hospitalized.
