Iranian lawmaker proposes invading US base, capturing ‘100 Americans’ to hold in Tehran

Iranian member of parliament and former foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Wednesday called for Tehran to invade a US military base in the Middle East, kidnap American troops and hold them hostage in Iran.

“My proposal is that we launch a ground attack on one of the US bases in the region, capture 100 Americans and bring them to Iran,” Mottaki said, according to Iranian media.

The comment comes as tensions escalate between Washington and Tehran after President Trump re-established the US blockade on Iranian ports on Tuesday and US forces continue airstrikes across Iran.
