Jalen Brunson quietly has surgery for injury that he battled during Knicks championship run

Jalen Brunson played through pain to carry the Knicks to a championship.

He underwent surgery recently to repair a tendon issue in his left hand and wrist, according to a source. His recovery timetable is 6-to-8 weeks.

Contrary to other reports that stated it was on his right hand/wrist and that is set to happen, the surgery already took place and was on his left hand/wrist.

The operation was performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Brunson dealt with discomfort during the Finals and it impacted his shooting, particularly early in games. As adrenaline took over, it helped mask the pain and he became more effective later in games.

And despite the injury, he was able to score 45 points – compared to 49 from all his teammates combined – in an epic Game 5 performance against the Spurs in the NBA Finals to seal the Knicks’ first title since 1973.
