Napa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a hit-and-run on the 6700 block of Yount Street in Yountville, on July 3 around 2:30 p.m., according to a press release.

A witness who called 911 pointed officials in the direction of a northbound vehicle seen colliding with the rear of a parked car on the shoulder, causing major damage. The collision also pushed the parked car’s right tire up onto the curb.

The witness said the vehicle briefly stopped and then drove away.

After police tracked Pelosi down, the 86-year-old admitted to hitting something but said he wasn’t aware what he struck. He then continued driving until his vehicle, disabled from the crash, stopped working.

Police found Pelosi partially blocking the roadway in his brown convertible on Yountville Cross Road. The car had significant damage to the front right side of the vehicle.

Cops determined that alcohol was not a factor in Pelosi’s crash. Pelosi took a preliminary alcohol screening test, and it showed a blood alcohol level of 0.00.

Police did not arrest Pelosi, which they said “is common for this type of offense, in accordance with misdemeanor arrest laws spelled out in 853.6 of the California Penal Code.”

The case has been transferred to the Napa County District Attorney’s office for a formal review. A California DMV re-evaluation referral form will also be submitted to the DMV, a common incident for elderly drivers.

The Pelosi family owns a multi-million dollar vineyard property in Napa County’s St. Helena. The property includes a permitted winery and rakes in thousands in grape sales.

Pelosi’s misfortune also came to the national spotlight on another occasion in 2022. An armed assailant broke into his San Francisco home and beat him with a hammer, leaving him with a fractured skull.

Earlier that year, he was in a car crash in Napa County. His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.082%, and he later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury.
