Long Island Expressway crash leaves two people dead and 10 injured

Two people were killed and 10 have been left injured in a crash on the Long Island Expressway.

A bus traveling westbound flipped into oncoming traffic just before 11:45 p.m. Monday near Exit 16 – Greenpoint Avenue. 

Some 79 fire and emergency services personnel responded to the crash, which FDNY confirmed was a motor vehicle accident with a confirmed pin.

Two were pronounced dead at the scene, three were critically injured and seven were left with minor injuries, according to FDNY. The victims have not been identified.

All lanes traveling eastbound and westbound on the Long Island Expressway at 50th Street are currently blocked due to the ongoing investigation, the NYPD said.
