Dem Rep. Jimmy Gomez confesses to cheating on wife after Post exposé sparked House investigation
WASHINGTON — Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.) confessed Tuesday to cheating on his wife, after The Post in April revealed he was seen kissing a congressional aide outside a DC party — a report which unleashed an official investigation that turned up sordid new details, CNN reported.

“Years ago, I made personal mistakes outside my marriage that have caused real pain to my wife and family,” Gomez told the news outlet.
“I sincerely apologize to my wife, family, friends and the people that I have the privilege to serve.”
The Los Angeles Democrat was spotted making out with a much younger congressional aide for a different lawmaker in August of 2023 outside the home of then-Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who resigned in disgrace in April following a series of sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Gomez, a close friend of Swalwell, denied the allegations initially reported by The Post.
“Although my actions were consensual in nature and haven’t violated the law or House ethics rules, that doesn’t diminish the impact that these mistakes have made on those I care about the most,” Gomez confessed Tueday.
“I take full responsibility and have committed myself to working through the pain privately with my wife and family. I sought professional assistance to help re-center and heal the relationships that mean everything to me, and move forward with the honesty, transparency, and respect that everyone deserves from the people they love. I continue to do this work.”
